I too read the scripture and encounter a world that is just as the Bible describes, yet am angered and frustrated. We must do a better job, and our pastors must do a better job of training us to see the world as it is and how we should live in that reality.

Growing up in a cult, I've always been keenly aware of how the Left weaponizes language and uses it for propaganda in the exact same way. In sociology there's a term called "argot" which describes how cults and other sub-culture groups apply their own meanings to every day words and phrases in such a way that it solidifies their followers' to the groupthink as it fosters an US versus THEM mentality. At the same time, it serves to keep outsiders in the dark about the group's true ideology. I see performance ignorance as the next step: Once followers have been satisfactorily indoctrinated and independent thinking has been successfully suspended, they simply parrot the words of their leaders. When someone confronts them with an opposing set of facts, it creates what sociologists refer to as "cognitive dissonance"--a very uncomfortable condition where the brainwashed person finds him/herself unable to reconcile the new information with their indoctrination unless they completely reject their programming. That's when you can virtually see the walls go up in an effort to protect the indoctrination, which, in turn, serves only to further reinforce their indoctrination. Frequently, the individual's response to cognitive dissonance is to lash out against the person presenting the opposing facts with anger, violence, indignation, ad hominem attacks, etc. This is precisely what we are seeing right now. These individuals have been weaponized with Marxist ideology (i.e., Cloward-Piven Strategy) and turned loose in an effort to perpetuate the propaganda and infect outer society with it. In a sense, they are spreading a Marxist "gospel" and they are willing to become martyrs for their cause as much as the individual who has strong religious convictions.
People forget that over 900 people died at the Jonestown compound. That included 304 children. Jones preached a Social Gospel. Jones was a methamphetamine addict and a sexual predator. Killing yourself and then poisoning your own child is a lot of cognitive dissonance. We should pray for these people, but never underestimate the lengths some of them will go to. Forgive me if I’m reading you wrong, but you seem to suggest that the government is always right, and must be obeyed, basing your thoughts on Romans 13. But a chapter before that Paul tells us that first, above all, we must submit ourselves as living sacrifices to God. Submission to God is far, far more important than submitting to the authorities. It is why Peter and John refused to submit to the authorities who told them to stop preaching about Jesus. It is why the early Christians preferred to face persecution and death rather than obey orders to curse Christ and worship the emperor. It is why the reformers ignored the Catholic Church’s orders to recant. It is why none of us should receive the mark that a future government will require us to get. Whenever what the government says is in conflict with our faith, we must follow our faith, because whatever is not of faith is sin. And, as Christians, there is one law that matters more than all others. That is to love others as we love ourselves, to only do to other people what we would want to be done to us.
